DESIGNOFPEARLMILLETCROPCUTTER USING SCOTCH YOKE MECHANISM
Keywords:
reciprocating, rotational, efficiencyAbstract
The conceptual design of a pearl millet crop cutter that
uses the Scotch Yoke mechanism to accomplish an
effective and accurate cutting action is presented in this
study. The smooth and steady blade action for slicing
millet stalks is made possible by the Scotch Yoke
mechanism, which transforms rotational motion into
reciprocating motion. Important design elements, such as
blade curvature, bevel angle, and material choice, are
adjusted to guarantee efficient cutting with little energy
use. The design offers a workable solution for small
scale millet harvesting by emphasizing ergonomic use,
cost efficiency, and simplicity. By increasing efficiency
and decreasing human labor, this project seeks to
mechanize millet harvesting.
